Synopsis
In the wake of the events of 11th September, 2001, America found itself at war once again, but fighting an enemy often unseen. Very soon troops were returning with wounds of a scale and nature unseen since Vietnam. These young men and women not only have their disabilities to tackle, and their memories to live with, they are faced with travelling all over the USA for treatment and compassionate reasons, using a public transit system unwittingly hostile to their conditions.
Coming to their rescue are the unsung heroes of a volunteer group – the Veterans Airlift Command, private pilots flying their own aircraft, at their own cost, to help these heroes. Traumatic, challenging discussions with veterans, their life affirming battles to recover, along with dramatic combat footage make this breakthrough viewing.
